Recent Refurbishments at Druids Glen
21 July 2018The five-star Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort in Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow, has unveiled their brand-new look with recent refurbishments to their lobby and bar areas. The resort, just 30 minutes from Dublin, has invested €9 million over the past five years to bring guests a fresh experience in the Garden of Ireland.
The first ever alteration to the footprint of the original hotel (built 2002) was made earlier this year to reveal the new Garden Rooms and Bar which was designed to extend the area of the existing bar and pavilion. The new area offers additional space for both bar use and informal dining.
The resort has optimised the magnificent view onto the gardens and woodlands that is the 12th and 13th holes of the championship Druids Glen golf course, which can also be viewed from the beautiful new outdoor terrace. On the interior, the furnishings are bespoke design and handmade by Irish craftsmen. Luxurious fabrics and leather influencer the chosen pieces which is in keeping with the current look and feel of the resort. Dark green leathers, subtle blues, London pinks, rich walnut and brass combine to compliment the surrounding beautiful landscapes.
The Garden Rooms and Bar has ample space for guests to unwind and relax, with the room more than doubling in size with the recent extension. In addition, it is now the perfect destination for local South Dublin and Wicklow residents to enjoy their day or evening. A delicious new menu has been devised by Anthony Duggan, Executive Chef, and Matti Reuter, Garden Rooms and Bar Manager, offering a variety of dishes including light bites, salads, pastas and grills.
Along with the new extended bar area, Druids Glen have also refurbished the Sycamore Lounge, their new lobby area, extending guest seating spaces with hand crafted Irish furniture.
The entire refurbishment has been complemented with work by renowned artists Tom Climent, John Short, Margo Banks, Frances Ryan, Carol Hodder, Neil Shawcross and Martin Finnan.
Speaking about the new look of Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort, CEO Edward Stephenson said, “We are delighted to be able to unveil the new Sycamore Lounge and Garden Rooms and Bar. It has been an exciting couple of months as we have seen the refurbishment come to life, which have been a significant investment for us this year. The Garden Rooms and Bar, along with the new outdoor terrace, give the resort a whole new dimension and a fresh offering to our guests and those in the local area. We are thrilled to have the revamp complete ahead of the summer season and we look forward to welcoming guests and visitors to see it for themselves.”
