At Druids Glen Resort, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We take great care to protect the wildlife that flourishes on the Resort and continue to take on various conservation projects. Through these efforts, we aim to create a positive impact on the environment, our community, and the experiences of our guests.
OUR GREEN TEAM - Composed of dedicated team members, our group meets regularly to ensure the resort remains aligned with its sustainability goals. Through thoughtful planning and a keen consideration of seasonal changes, we consistently strive to enhance our environmental performance.
PROMOTING BIODIVERSITY - Our 360-acre Resort is a the perfect habitat for wildlife, flora and fauna to flourish. We are committed to preserving and enhancing this biodiversity by maintaining thousands of trees and natural habitats across the property. As part of our sustainability efforts, we’ve also established an on-site apiary to support the local bee population, essential for pollination and the health of our ecosystem.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - Sustainability extends beyond the Resort’s boundaries, and our team plays a vital role in supporting our green initiatives. Our staff has participated in local environmental clean-up efforts, including a local beach clean-up, in Kilcoole, Co.Wicklow. We are also proud to work with The Happy Pear, to promote local, sustainable food practices, supporting the community and offering guests a taste of the best in eco-conscious cuisine.
GREEN TRANSPORT - We encourage eco-friendly transportation options. To this end, we offer the Bike to Work scheme, a staff taxi service, and a shuttle service to local towns, reducing the carbon footprint of our team and guests alike. Additionally, we are proud to provide electric car charging outlets for those driving eco-friendly vehicles, making it easier for guests and staff to reduce their carbon emissions while visiting or working at Druids Glen.
COMMITTING TO A GREENER FUTURE - Our commitment to protecting the environment and supporting our local community guides our daily operations, from waste management to promoting biodiversity. Our future plans are mindful of sustainability, and we aim to work even more closely with the local community to further these efforts.
MINIMISING WASTE - Using our on-site biodigester, we recycle food waste into nutrient-rich compost, which helps nourish our greens and gardens. This reduces the need for chemical fertilisers and significantly lowers greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, we have made significant strides in reducing single-use plastic by replacing plastic water bottles with eco-friendly paper alternatives in our rooms.
